Who am I?

About me:

I'm just a person who wants to learn, be happy, share that with others, and hopefully help out some folks if I can. Being helpful is one of my very favorite feelings. Learning something new is up there on the list, too. I'm a big reader. I'm big on doing, too, and learning through experimentation. Both of these things inform this site.

In my spare time I enjoy sci-fi/fantasy in all media formats. I definitely have some favorite authors and series. I garden, knit, putter around at playing my bass guitar. I've tried cooking for fun, but the dishes afterward make it feel like too much of a chore for my liking. RPGs are fun, tabletop or pc.

Professionally? I went to school, got a couple bachelors degrees, became a microbiologist, ran an industrial manufacturing microbiology lab for a few years for a 24/7 facility. Turns out the corporate world isn't for me. I became disillusioned with how politics and money can trump data and science. So I left to pursue something different where I felt like I could make a positive impact.

I became a community herbalist through the program at Florida School of Holistic Living with a group of wild women who will forever be in my heart as soul sisters even if I am terrible at staying in touch. I worked as a curves coach, where I met some trulyy wonderful ladies and helped a fantastic group of women tap into their empowerment with their health and fitness. I got my personal trainer certification to learn more in depth how I could help people on that journey. I'm one of those weird people who think fitness, health, and the science behind it is intensely fun. I moved on to become a chiropractic assistant where I got to do therapy and rehab sessions with the most amazing patients, and a fantastic doctor and coworkers. I will soon have my certification as a functional exercise specialist, and have fun kicking people's butts in evening bootcamp classes.

Now I am focused on a whole new project: my son. Every day is an adventure that we take together, learning and growing along with my husband and our two furry four legged kids. Every day I am struck with something new to be in awe of on this beautiful ride called motherhood.

That pretty much rounds out the nutshell version of Me.
